The RSF Rank System
The Rebel Special Forces are a naval organization consisting of pilots and ground forces, namely SEALs and Jedi Knights.

RSF has one single rank system for all members in all divisions with fixed US Navy derived ranks and insignias.

The rank in RSF represents your role and status in our clan. The higher your rank, the better is your skill and experience in the game you play with RSF and the more important is your function you fulfill within RSF.

Three distinct ways...
While you start as a Recruit in RSF - the lowest rank of all - there are three distinct ways to improve your rank in RSF.

In the first way, the Rank Test System, you are trained and tested by our RSF Academy and promoted according to your performance in a rank test. The second way, the Award System, offers you a way to be promoted by earning awards, by participating in gaming events and by being loyal to RSF by serving us for a long time. And finally, in the Event System, the third upranking system available, you get the opportunity to advance in rank by performing good in gaming competitions.

You should note that it is possible to mix all three upranking ways. If you, for example, start with the Rank Test System, you may proceed your advancing in rank with the Event System and maybe followed by the Award System. It's totally up to you.

To be complete, there's actually also a forth way to be promoted: by appointment of RSF High Command. This had happend only a very few times for the lower ranks in the past yet, but it's the only upranking way available for ranks higher than Commander.

The Rank Test System

How does it work?
In order to use this system you need to be trained and tested by our RSF Academy.

In a rank test you are checked for certain elements of a game such as skill and experience by a trainer. If you are able to fulfill the requirements of the test, i.e. you pass the test, you are promoted to the next higher rank.

To find out more about rank tests please refere to the RSF Academy.

Note: To be allowed to take a test you also need a certain amount of pins of participation to show you ingame-activity.

The Award System

How does it work?
With the Award System you have a chance to get promoted by earning awards. If you would like to know more about awards and how to obtain them, please refere to the awards page.
This does include the Pins of Participation, which are in fact a measurement for your activity in gaming events. And this does also include the membership awards which are actually a sign for loyalty and service time.

If you think you earn a promotion according to the Award System please email RSF High Command.

It is your responsibility to check, whether the Award System applies to you or not, since RSF High Command is not able to do all this work for our members.

How does it work?
The following table lists the requirements for the Award System. The "Pins since last promo" column shows the number of Pins of Participation needed since your last promotion date, the "Awards" column shows the awards needed, the "Membership Award" column shows the membership awards needed and the "Permissions" column shows the number of High Command permissions needed to reach the rank in the "Rank to reach" column.

Please note
This system is only available for the ranks listed below.

Example 1
Given you received your first promotion to Cadet 4th Class by passing the Basic I test of our academy. Then you would be promoted to Cadet 3rd Class with your 3rd pin since the date you took your Basic I test.

Example 2
You start as Recruit and would receive your first promotion to Cadet 4th Class with receiving your 3rd pin. Then you pass the Basic II test in our academy and are promoted to Cadet 3rd Class. To reach the rank of Cadet 2nd Class you would need to earn 6 pins now since your promotion to Cadet 3rd Class, to reach the rank of Cadet 1st Class after this you need another 6 pins.

Example 3
Given you reached the rank of Lieutenant (no matter by which system), in order to be promoted to Lt. Commander by the awards system you need 24 pins since your promo to Lt., 2 High Online Activity Awards, 1 Squadron Leader Commendation Award, 4 further General Awards (excluding HOA, Most active Squadron and Site award) and 4 Event Awards (such as placement and most active player awards). You also need the 1 year membership award and 3 High Command permissions. You see this is a very high rank, that has quite a lot requirements to be reached.

The Event System

How does it work?
RSF offers gaming events in the various games we play. Gaming events are friendly competitions where you have to compete alone, or in a team, against other members of RSF or even other clans. The actual Events can be found on the Events message board.

With the Event System you are able to earn promotions by placing first or second in an RSF gaming event.

This system is available for internal wars (Days of War (DoW), Days of Coop (DoC), Pistol War, ...), for open wars (Week of War (WoW), Co-op Week of War (WoC)), tournaments and ladders and only up to the rank of Lt. Commander.

Case 1: Low Activity Event
The winner of the 1st place award of an event gains one rank if there were at least 10 participants that received a pin of participation for this event.
The winner of the 2nd place award gains no rank.

Case 2: High Activity Event
The winner of the 1st place award of an event gains 1 rank if there were at least 15 participants that received a pin of participation for this event.
The winner of the 2nd place award of this event gains 1 rank, too.

Requirements
2 HC permissions are required to reach the rank of Lieutenant.
Further more, 3 HC permissions are required to reach the rank of Lieutenant Commander.

Please note
This system is only available up to the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
You need to hold your rank the time given in the table below at the date the event ends in order to receive a promotion via the Events Rule. Otherwise you will not receive any promotion at any time for your 1st or 2nd place in that event.

Example
You can't get a promotion to Lieutenant JG with the Event Rule when you don't hold Ensign for at least 1 month.
