Activity Control System (ACS)

Help

What is ACS?

ACS stands for Activity Control System. It is a set of php scripts and a database that monitor the activity of RSF's members.

What is my ID?

Your ID number, that you need to specify during manual login, is your RSF membership ID number. If you don't know your ID number, you can find it by browsing the members roster and looking for the number left to your RSF name.
Note: Your ID is a number, and not your RSF name.

What is my password?

If you haven't changed your password manually, it is initially set to the password you provided us with you joining application. (Remember, you had to choose a password in the joining form?). If you can't log in although you typed in the correct ID and password and you are a valid member of RSF, please send me an email!

What does "Login Partially Successful!" mean?

It means you have successfully reported for duty. So you don't have to worry about this. However, it was not possible to save a cookie on your computer. Cookies are necessary for certain features of the site such as the mail system, the chat system and the on-leave system. It is strongly recommended that you turn on cookies in your browser.

I will be on leave for a longer period, what should I do?

If you will be on leave, e.g. going on holidays, you should request a leave of absence. You can do it here. Your status will be set to 'on leave' and ACS will ignore you. Otherwise it is possible, that ACS will discharge you!

I forgot my password, what should I do?

Please send me an email, describing the problem to me and providing me with information to prove your identity.

I can't log in! Help!

Check the members roster, whether your ID number is correct. Not that your ID is a number and not your RSF name. Make sure you typed in your password correctly. It is case sensitive! 'foobar' and 'Foobar' are not the same. If you can't remember your password please check for your welcome email from RSF. If you have lost it, refere to point "I forgot my password, what should I do?"
IMPORTANT: Of course you need to be a valid, not retired member of RSF to be able to log in!

I can't use cookies. Is that a problem?

Yes, it is a problem. Cookies are not necessary to report for duty. As a minimum, you have to log in manually at least once in 14 days to not to be placed on the inactives list. But you should log in every time you visit RSF's site because the log-in database is used to calculate the activity per week rating.
However, cookies are necessary for certain features of the site such as the mail system, the chat system and the on-leave system. Hence, it is strongly recommended that you turn on cookies in your browser.

How do I log in manually?

Simply by using the report interface.

Do I need to log in manually after I once successfully logged in manually?

When cookies are activated and you don't change your browser, the cookie will log in automatically for you from now on.

How do I know, whether the cookie is still active?

When the welcome page of RSF's site knows your name, your cookie is active. When the welcome page is welcomming you as a stranger, you need to log in manually again.

I am using the browser with someone else, that is a member of RSF too. Is that a problem?

It is a little more complicated. Keep attention, which member the welcome page is welcomming. If it is not you, you need to log in manually..
Also you might consider logging out each time you leave the site in order to avoid any confusions.

How do I change my password?

To increase your security it is advised to change your password from time to time. To do so simply log in and click on the change password link.

How does ACS work?

You have to log into the system, using the report interface. Once you successfully logged in, a cookie is stored on your computer, thus you don't have to log in manually again. The cookie will do it for you each time you visit RSF's page.
All log-ins are stored into a database with the current date and time. The system will check regularily for inactive members by comparing the latest database entry with the current date.
If a member is inactive for more than 14 days, a reminder email is sent to this member asking it for its status. The RSF status of this member is set to 'inactive' and the member will appear on the inactive members roster.
If a member is inactive another 14 days after the first mail was sent, a second mail is sent to the member. The status is set to 'long-term inactive' and the member will appear on the long-term inactive members roster.
If a member is inactive another 7 days after the second mail was sent, a last, final mail is sent to this member informing it, that it just got discharged from RSF. The status of this member is set to resigned and the member will appear on the resigned members roster.
This process can be stopped at any time by simply logging into RSF's site.

What will happen to me, when I got the last email?

Members, that got the last email, informing them that they have just been discharged from RSF, have been inactive for at least 35 days. The status of these members will be set to 'resigned'. The resign reason is set to: 'Too long inactivity period [ACS]' to indicate, that these members have been booted.
They will not be able to report for duty anymore. The only way to come back to RSF is to rejoin. Therefore one should write a mail on an RSF message board or send an email directly to the RSF High Command. All information of a normal joining mail plus an explanation why one wants to rejoin have to be included in an rejoin application. The RSF rejoin regulations will be applied.
